Can't get client to connet to server

Can't get client to connet to server
I'm new to iBiz. We can't get our clients to connect to the server. The server app is running fine on our Mac server and the client apps seem installed properly on our iMacs. We get the same error message everytime on opening the client—"can't connect to the server. . ." We've read the posts here and reloaded both the server and client apps several times. We've been careful to follow your email instuctions (that came with our license codes and installed the server from the "server" download and the client from the "client" download—although the files that downloaded seemed identical.
We've done your suggested bonjour test and our clients can see the server in iChat and vice versa. We also know the clients are seeing the server since the network password message comes up on the client if we check that preference box on the server.
And lastly, everytime we quit the client software, the next time we launch it, the license code is gone and it shows as unregistered!
What gives?

We're currently testing some similar issues reported by another user. On the client computer, please open Console (in Applications/Utilities), launch iBiz Client, then switch back to Console. Do you see any messages there from iBiz Client?

Do you have the firewall running on the computer with iBiz Server? If so, you'll need to make sure it is set to allow incoming connections for iBiz Server. Once iBiz Client is able to connect properly, it should save your registration. Let me know what you find.

hi
i have a similar problem, since i have upgraded to ibiz pro i have problems with conecting to the server. it did work briefly just after the upgrade but shortly after i wasnt able to connect anymore to the server. i have used the ibiz 3 for over a year now without a problem...
i have set all the firewalls in the pref pane to allow any traffic, but still no connection.
i have done the suggestet test with the console and received this message:
1/27/10 12:41:08 PM iBiz Client[806] client-Batman: received 0 clients from server
1/27/10 12:42:27 PM iBiz Client[813] client: getting server proxy failed
can you help my pls

Do you have the latest update (currently 4.1.1) installed? Are iBiz Server and all iBiz Clients running this version? Are other Clients on the network able to connect properly?

i am running out of ideas. i have tried all possible firewall settimgs in osx but to no result. i just cant seam to make out the error, especially since it worked fine upto last month.
ist there any way to reset the whole server client thing, what files do need to delete to start a new.

I don't think you need to delete everything and start over just yet. Are any iBiz Clients able to connect to the server? If you launch iBiz Client on the same computer running iBiz Server, does it work properly?

hi
i have just installed a demo client on the same computer as the server app is running on, it connected instantly. showing all the client and projects.
i guess that means the problem is in the network conection, do you have any ideas what tool i could use to narrow down the error ?

I'm glad that's working at least. Can you install iBiz Client on any other computer on your network and have it connect properly? You can actually use iChat to test the network connection - launch iChat on two computers on the network and set up a Bonjour account on each. They should see each other automatically. If they don't, that suggests a problem with Bonjour (which is also what iBiz relies on). Let me know what you find.

I have tried to connect via ichat on the computers in our network, they all instantly connected on the bonjour buddy list. i then have installed a new ibis client on a new computer in our network to make sure the problem isnt on my workstation, but the same error as i expereinced on my machine is happening on the other. first i get the turning beachball and then ibiz client is non responsive for a while, if i wait a bit longer i can close the client, but it always shows the not connectet sign on the upper righthand corner of the window.
i should have mentioned our setup earlier:
iBiz server on a mac pro
iBiz client1 on mac pro
iBiz client2 on a iMac
all connectet via lan Ethernet

Thanks for testing that. I'd like to see how the Console log looks on the server computer when you launch iBiz Server and then launch iBiz Client on one of the other Macs. Please let me know which port iBiz Server is using as well (you will find this in iBiz Server > Preferences under Network).

after i have fired up our computers this morning, my ibiz client did connect to the server. i have no clue how and why, but it seams to work.
anyway thanks for the help you have offerd here, i very much apreciate that the develppers of ibiz do really care for their customers. two thumbs up!
