Also the fact that iBank can't import the csv export makes it very inconvenient.

I created a drag and drop automator script to convert the csv file to iBank readable csv (saves manually doing it in Excel)

export the Nationwide CSV,
drag onto Nationwide2iBank
new file is created with ".ibank.csv" appended to filename

import into ibank
(you may need to reset account import settings)
in import settings window, use the default settings (you need to move the columns about to get the import to register first time)

works for credit card as well as current account (actually have different file formats!)

Hi Rich, many thinks for this. Don't know if you can help but i also have esavings accounts with Nationwide and they don't seem to work with your script! i've even tried to editing the CSV file to look like the flex account files but no luck! any ideas?
Cheers

[removed file - will post an update when I can...]

There's an updated version in a later post (maybe I should edit the original) that converts to QIF files.

I'm pretty sure I included the eSavings account - typically they all have slightly different formats.

Try this, let me know if it works. You may need to reset import settings to work with QIF, the advantage is that you don't need to configure the import so much as the file is more structured.

I noticed the latest release has a lot of QIF import bug fixes so I might look at this again and see if I can get things like cheque numbers working.

Hi Rich, when i drop the CSV on the converter (new version) it reports an error in script, and when you try to import the QIF it doesn't seem match up a date and the nothing comes in. (i'm 99% sure its empty)

This is the format of the reports from eSavings (if it helps):

Full Statement
File downloaded on Tuesday 09 February 2010
Account : Joint_e-Savin_*12542
Account Balance: £xxxx.xx
Available Balance: £xxxx.xx

Date Transactions Credits Debits Balance
26-Oct-09 Transfer from 12-34-56 01234567. £xxx.xx £xxxx.xx

Would be great to be able to convert these accounts too, your script convinced me to go ahead and buy Ibank and so far so good.
Cheers

Maybe I should get some sort of resellers fee off them ;)

I did test my eSavings account and it works, so there's obviously some variants.

I'll look through the code and post a new version.

Harry

I did find something to with handling the csv format.

I changed the way it does this now - see if makes any difference.

Make sure you download a clean file from Nationwide.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for taking the time to look at this, but unfortunately i could not get your new script to work with either flex or esavings reports. Im worried about taking up you time on this and have to say adding my esavings transitions by hand is very low maintenance :) (make that "no" maintenance because if i make them "transfers" in the main account they just appear in esavings iBank account - job done)

Using the old converter on eSavins CSV the new QIF file contains "!Type:Bank" and Flex CSV (mini or Full) are perfect.

Just to reiterate the ability to do the flex reports with your previous script is all i really need and now as i'm set up and the need to input esavings is negligible.

Thanks again for all your work on this.

Cheers

OK, glad you've got a working version but I am intrigued as to why it doesn't work and as I'm using it to import my own bank info want to make sure it works.

Does the script fail or does it just not import into iBank?

One last thing to test is the iBank import
- select eSaving account in account list
- goto account menu - Edit Import Settings...
- choose QIF Files tab and click defaults button
- standard date Formats: should be mm/dd/yy

then when you import QIF file it may ask you for date format - again mm/dd/yy, click Continue Import

Harry

I've spotted what it is - you've renamed your account - Joint_e-Savin_*12542, I'm looking for the default name "eSavings" to identify the account type.

Switched it to look at other details to identify the account.

Try this...
