Help deciding between iBank & Moneydance

Postby aka_jt » Thu Feb 04, 2010 10:45 am

Hey, I've been evaluating iBank & Moneydance as the final 2 contestants to replace Quicken 2005 on my iMac G5. HELP! I really like iBank's interface & look /feel. However, it's painfully slow! Also, I reconcile every month, and Moneybank's reconcile is way better than iBank's. Any thoughts to pull me back towards iBank?

Hello aka_jt,

Actually, reconciling is one area a lot of people really like about iBank, though it does take a bit of getting used to. Please do contact our support department if you're finding it confusing, and we can go through it with you.

The philosophy behind our reconciliation feature is to mirror real life with statement objects that match (and look like) your real paper statements. That's why we don't separate debits and credits into separate window panels like Moneydance. Instead, we separate out transactions that are and are not part of the statement, and you can drag and drop between them. That gives you clear look at the actual statement, and makes it easy to compare it visually with your bank statement.

Could you tell us specifically what it is you like about Moneydance's reconciliation tool? We're always listening for ways we can improve, and our development process is driven by feedback from our customers.

I've actually purchased iBank finally. I use Schwab bank, and Moneydance didn't allow downloading for all of my accts. I'll kick the tires on the reconcile feature when I get my first statement and let you know how it goes. I guess I'm just used to Quicken...Good riddance!
