iBank Performance

Postby thboyd » Fri Jan 29, 2010 4:46 pm

I've been working on migrating from Quicken to iBank. I've imported all of my quicken transactions (about 15 years worth) and have been cleaning up the oddities that occurred. While working with my investment transactions, ibank performance has become intolerable. Almost every action results in several minutes of close to 100% cpu utilization by iBank (as reported in Activity Monitor). I have a iMac with 2.4 GHz Core 2 duo processor and 4 GBytes of memory. It's not a memory problem as I have yet as the Swap used is 0 bytes. Any ideas what could be wrong, or is iBank just not up to the task?

I have not experienced this because I only have one year of data. Rumor has it, that if you toggle the view at the bottom of the account window from "All" to "This Year" or "Recent" it gets zippy again.

I tried that. It does seem to help on bank accounts and credit card accounts, but not so much on investment account.

In the current version, iBank tends to be more responsive with fewer transactions displayed in the register list. This can be accomplished using the filter buttons at the bottom of the iBank screen: All, This Year, and Recent. You can define what you consider "Recent" in the iBank application preferences.

We're working to address this, and there's an emphasis on performance improvements in our next major version release.
