I have almost 20 years of Quicken data from the Windows versions. I've been running Parallels on the Mac so I could continue to use the Windows version (mostly because I hated the Mac version of Quicken) however Quicken 2007 has informed me that they will soon stop downloading transactions. Thus, I am evaluating iBank. I imported the last 5 years of data pretty easily but I have hit one snag and wondered if there is a way to fix it.
My paycheck deposits are split transactions where I itemize all the taxes, insurance payments, etc. One of these split entries is a direct deposit of a fixed amount every paycheck into my wife's bank account. In the imported splits, my wife's account is listed as a category instead of an account, i.e., "BofA XYZ" instead of "•Bofa XYZ". In addition, there is a separate transaction created for that split entry. So, I have a split entry going to a category AND an additional transaction of the same amount going to the account. I assume this had something to do with the order in which I imported the QIF files. I can easily delete those separate transactions but it is proving to be cumbersome to fix the split entries that are wrong.
What I want to do it edit the split and change the "BofA XYZ" category to "•Bofa XYZ". This, in conjunction with deleting the extra transactions, would fix the balances in my wife's account. However iBank doesn't want to let me do this. When I open up the split and edit that entry to read "•Bofa XYZ" it always reverts to "BofA XYZ" when I save. The only way I have found to fix it is to delete the "Bofa XYZ" entry and create a new "•Bofa XYZ" entry of the same amount. This is extremely tedious.
Is there a less time-consuming way to make these changes? I'm not above starting completely over (it didn't take that long to get where I am) if there is a better method to use. This is important because I do a lot of split transactions that transfer money between accounts and not categories.
Thanks.

Re: Fixing bad splits after QIF import
Howdy - I've seen a few reports like this, and I'm gathering further information on what may be an issue we can isolate and address. I'll email you with a few specific followup questions.

Re: Fixing bad splits after QIF import
I also had some issues with split entries on my pay check transactions. In my case there were sometimes two splits representing deposits to my 401K. These were duplicated by a single additional transactions for a deposit into the 401K for the total amount. There weren't that many of them (it seems that it didn't always happen), so i just fixed them. In my 15 years of data there were maybe 20 or 30 such cases.
