I was wanting to run iBank on 2 computers and thought that if the data file was in my dropbox I'd have no problems. I already use this for programs like Things, TextExpander etc... and as long as the file is not open in two places at the same time I have no issues. However in my testing with iBank I've come up against some strange issues.
Is anybody else here syncing the data using dropbox, care to share your experiences?

Re: iBank and Dropbox
Hi Mike,
I know there are some iBank users out there using Dropbox to store their data file. If you do a "Dropbox" search on the iBank KB forum, you will see a few results.
One to start: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14491&p=43031&hilit=Dropbox#p43031
Hopefully this helps some.

Re: iBank and Dropbox
Could someone explain how to do this step by step and in more detail. I need more information to figure out how to use DropBox with iBank on my two computers.

also:
Does anyone know if it is possible to have on iBank data file in a drop box (for a shared account, for example) and another data file elsewhere on the same machine?
Thanks

Re: iBank and Dropbox
Some of our customers have had good results with storing the iBank data file online using the MobileMe iDisk or Dropbox, though we can't guarantee those will always work since they are outside our control.
Using a service like Dropbox can be a bit dangerous. iBank is not designed to manage the editing of a single data file from multiple simultaneous instances of the iBank application. If you have iBank open at home, then open the same file at work, you can damage the data file and lose some or all of your iBank data. The trouble with something like Dropbox is that it makes it easy to do this by mistake. With great freedom comes great responsibility, as they say.
Finally, if you store your data online, you still should be making a regular backup of your iBank data on some local storage device. Test restoring from this backup periodically, and let me know if you need some guidance on establishing a backup routine.
