iBank Transactions Widget under Snow Leopard

Postby Richard47 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:10 pm

After upgrading to Snow Leopard the Transactions widget shows a zero balance. The buttons that normally show the Account Name, Transaction Type and Category are all blank and the drop-down links are inactive. The iBank version is 3.5.2

Did you download the updated widgets in the 3.5.2 download also?

Yes I am sure that I did, but is there a way to check the installed widget version number?

Hi Richard - you can get the version number in the Finder in ~/Library/Widgets/iBank Budgets (and Transactions). Just highlight the file and then choose File>Get Info.

I have just received iBank and the widget doesn't work :(
The information is not transferred to the data base. Alert "Dashboard Client quit unexpectedly while using the iBank Plugin plugin"

iBank v3.5.2
iBank Widget v2.1.2
OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard)

Thank you,

Ditto...

The iBank Transactions Widget shows a zero balance, the fields are all blank, and the drop-down links are inactive.

iBank v3.5.2 (Build 548)
iBank Transactions Widget v2.1.2
OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard) - installed before iBank

...it just doesn't work.

Neither widget is working for me...

IGG Team: do you acknowledge the issue? Can you reproduce? Is this being worked on?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Please reinstall iBank 3.5.3 and the widgets again and let me know if you are still having trouble. Thanks.

Hi Nancy,

I just re-downloaded & reinstalled...

The iBank Transactions Widget shows a zero balance, the fields are all blank, and the drop-down links are inactive.
The iBank Budget Widget shows $0 Expense, $0 Income, $0 Budget, and the drop-down link to select a budget is inactive.

iBank v3.5.3 (Build 551)
iBank Transactions Widget v2.1.2
iBank Budget Widget v2.0.1
OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard) - installed before iBank

... they are still not working.

Please try launching iBank, opening your data file, saving, and quitting, then going back to the Dashboard. Snow Leopard has a different way of managing the way widgets access external files, so this step is necessary the first time you upgrade.

I have just updated iBank to Version 3.5.5 (564) and tried all of the above suggestions and the Transactions widget (version 2.1.2) still shows 0.00

Jon, where does the widget get the link to the last opened iBank file from? I would so like to be able to help you track down this elusive and annoying problem.

It's working :D and the solution was oh so simple in the end.

Clicking on the transaction tab on the widget I noticed that the Payee and Category boxes were showing items from my iBank file. Then I noticed that the Account box (the second entry box down in the second column) was blank. When clicked the box revealed my Accounts and I was able to see the balance after selecting one.

This was a after I had tried many more reloads and deletions of .pref files :!:

The widget on my laptop has been showing 0.00 for ages so I quickly switched it on and *yes* the Account box was blank. Selecting an Account made that work too - without any reloads etc.

Glad you found a simple solution! Yes, you must have an account selected in order for the widget to show a balance.

I discovered (after re-reading the install pdf closely) that if you password protect your iBank data file then the widget cannot access your data. Therefore, you must disable the password protection for iBank widget to see your accounts. This was indeed the problem and solution for me.

1) Go to File - Password Protection
2) Un-check the password protect my account file box

Good Luck!
